OSP Responds to the 2018 Farm Bill Manager’s Amendment

Washington, D.C. — The Manager’s Amendment to the 2018 House Farm Bill is an important step forward in moving millions of able-bodied adults from welfare to work. The Opportunity Solutions Project (OSP) urges members of the House of Representatives to vote in support of the Amendment, which further emphasizes work within the food stamp program.

The Farm Bill includes commonsense reforms to the food stamp program that will expand work requirements to more able-bodied adults on welfare, moving them back to work quickly and preserving resources for the truly needy.

“The Manager’s Amendment to the Farm Bill represents a step in the right direction toward real food stamp reform that refocuses the program on the truly needy and helps lift able-bodied adults out of dependency,” said Tarren Bragdon, CEO of OSP. “By supporting the Amendment, members are giving Americans the opportunity to experience the power of work.”

Opportunity Solutions Project (OSP) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization that seeks to improve lives by advocating for public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, individual liberty, and a limited, accountable government.
